So, what is your favorite holiday food? The thing you only get to eat around the holidays? My favorite thing is something called pretzel salad-it sounds so gross but is totally yummy. It has a crust of crushed pretzels and then there is cream cheese, whipped cream, strawberries and jello. OOOOOHHHHH, I love it! The salt and the sweet are so yummy together. I don't know why it is called salad as it is nothing remotely like salad. Who cares, it tastes great! Good thing we only have it at Christmas because I can eat the whole pan, and I'm fairly certain it's not low fat . Amanda

My favorite is my mom's homemade Chex party mix! I can't wait to get home and get some! I asked for a tote full on my Christmas list. It is the thing I am most looking forward to!

Ohhhhh Amanda that sounds so yummy you need to post how to make it. I want to try it, I think that my family would love it. Jennifer: I love chex mix too. Oh, and puppy chow too. Oh now I am getting hungry. My favorite would have to be double baked potatoes with butter and sour cream followed up by chocolate pie. Like everyone else, my favorites are incredibly low fat. Jacque

Amanda: At the risk of sounding like a total idiot.... I have never made jello before. About how long does it take to almost set? What will it look like? I am going to make this for our family get together, and want to be sure that I do not screw it up.

OMG! Jacque-how have you never made jello before?! It is very easy. Hot water and the packet of flavoring mix and throw in fridge. But for this recipe mix the flavor packet with the 3 1/2 cups hot water and strawberries in a bowl (if the strawberries are still frozen this cools it quicker-just make sure to mix them all in so they're not in a big block, LOL)-it will be the consistency of water. As it cools it will thicken up. Put it in the fridge until it is cool but still liquidy-I have no idea how long this takes, maybe 30 mins? Test it by putting the back of a spoon in it-if it drips off it is too wet, if it sticks but doesn't drip that's about what you want, if your spoon bounces off then you've let it cool too much . Just don't let it be warm or it will melt the cream cheese-it still tastes the same, just doesn't look as pretty. Jello is forgiving since it is sloooow to firm up. It's hard to mess this up. Make this the night before because it takes overnight for the jello to firm up. I promise this is not rocket science but maybe if you do a trial run of it a week or so before just to work out the kinks. I'm sure you will have no trouble consuming the "test". Let me know if you have any other questions! Amanda

OMG! Jacque-how have you never made jello before?! I KNOW!!! I am a total freak about cooking and baking and I have never ever made anything with Jello before. Thanks for spelling it out for me, I really do appreciate it..... and yes, I will make one batch in advance just to be sure it looks pretty! Jacque

Amanda: NO!!! I have been so busy.... so busy that I have not even had time to go near the computer! The only thing I am concerned about is how it looks.... but then again I know it will turn out perfect, and if it doesn't then I will hide it in the back of the fridge and eat it by myself after everyone leaves.
