Chrissy: Thanks for sharing your story. What made you decided to adopt from Korea? What are the pros and cons when it comes to adopting outside of the US? Mike and I plan on having four kids of our own - and then we plan on adopting two. This will be several years down the road - but I figure it is never to early to gather opinions and information!

goodmorning! well we chose korea because the medicals and care for the babies before you recieve them is fantastic! when we researched from the local places, like ny, etc. there was a shorter wait, but they had alot of medical issues, and it wasnt only phsical it was psychological, most are older not infants, so it would be too hard......6 kids down the line is awesome! nice big family to love and love you guys! we want two, and if down the line we have our own after adopting then we have a big family too, more kiddies to love.......thnaks chrissy

Good Morning Chrissy! Thanks for Quick reply! Now when adopting from Korea, you can have a boy or a girl? Do you get to choose? Do you get to name them? How old are they when you get them? Do you have to pick them up, or do they bring them to you?
I ask all of this because friends of ours have adopted 2 girls from China, they could only adopt girls, they could not name them, they were about 2 months when they picked them up and they were in China for about a week. I was wondering if it worked like this for all overseas adoption, or if it was just this way if you adopted from China.
What is the cost comparison between the states and over seas? Is it comparable to Dr's bills for a "normal" delivery, it cost us (this does included the portion the insurance paid) $30,000 to have Kailey, but we only paid about $3,000 that was about 8 years ago and we had some MINOR complications.
Are you going through an agency ( I assume so since it is over seas)? Do they have a website? Also... how do you feel about open adoption - not through an agency just between parents? Will your baby have any contact with its mother.
I am sorry about all of the questions, but the friend we have does not like to talk about the adoption process because she says that the babies are hers and that she wants to forget that part of their "birth"... I know that is a little psycho to look at it that way, but she is different. If you do not walk to talk about this I completely understand....
Also, if you log in to your account (instead of posting as a guest) you will see that you have some personal messages.... they are team blinkies... Linda made an adoption one for you!
Talk to you soon!

hi again,lol....actaully i am the same way, i seriously feel this baby is mine and dh before we even see him or her, we werent given a choice and we can name them when they are ready to arrive an put the imfo on his or her birthcertificates, at first when people were asking prices, we responded we dont put a price on our children.....lol.....but people realize it is costing an armand a leg, but so well worth it in the end! i couldnt go the open adoption route, i am too emotional and that has to be our child and no relation to the birth parents, until they are oldre we are going going answer any questions and be totally honest with them, they have a right to know who and where they are from, i just couldnt go that other route, this way once the baby is here, theres no turning back on either ends, the birthparents dont know who we are and we dont them, all we have is their medicals, minus names, but i will be in a little bit, thanks for listening and chatting. i love being able to share my pregnancy, hahahaha, chrissy

Chrissy! That is so exciting! ;D How much longer until you get an exact date? How much notice do you get once you set a date? Do you get several weeks, or do they call you one day and say that you can pick up your baby in 5 days? Also... have you started baby shopping yet, your "due date" is just right around the corner! This is so exciting!

Happy Birthday Chrissy!!!!
I went ahead and changed the title of this tread for you, I think it is more appropriate also. lol.
So, what grade do you teach? I know it will be hard to leave them, but it will be more then worth it! So, you are not just taking a leave, you are going to become a stay at home mom? I run a home day care, so I could make money and stay at home with Kailey... she is now in school full time and I STILL run a day care. I love it, the kids are great. I love them all so much.
So, did you turn in your paperwork? How did it go? Is this the last step on your part then?
I hope you have a wonderful Birthday!

I think it is awesome that you are planning to be a stay at home mom - I am a work at home mom and I LOVE it! ---- I wish I could start some sort of count down for you? Are you at about the 4 month mark now? If so that means you are over halfway done with your pregnancy! WooHoo!!! ---- So are you also TTC? If so, where are you at in your cycle? Jacque

hi how r u? well we are still ttc, we figure then we will have two kids!,lol....and if not then w are going to wait a few eyars and ttc after our first baby comes, if it still doesnt work then we will adopt our second, we have it all planned,lol....we are about4 to 5 more months to go now from what they are saying! so far we have a carrige, a car seat, all the room stuff, like crib music and mobile, clothes, feeties, we even been buying diapers every time we go out to stock up and save! i guess we are the first to adopt, but then again we probably been ttc the longest here, it has been almost 8 years! i am soooooooooo ready to be a mommy!!!!!right now i am approx. 1 week and half away from af! due around 16th give or take a few days......i ovulate crazily, i get severe nausea, and pain on my right side, headaches, and stomach pain, i been back and forth and the dr. said its ok, not to panic, and i used clomid for awhile and that made me feel sicker! with iui, and fertility shots, so when i get af, i get bad fever, chills, sweats, i have the worst endo. and had surgery, so i do hope i could get pg again, i missed last year around nov. and never conceived again, but its ok if i dont one way or another wee are getting out baby, yahooooo! well thanks fo rlistening, be back later! love chrissy
